Suncoast Chapter

About Suncoast Chapter

Nearly 35 years ago, three people in Malibu, California stood up to fight development that would destroy their favorite wave.  Surfrider was born out of grassroots activism and continues that method today.

Founded in San Clemente, California, there are now chapters spanning the country – Florida, Wisconsin, and Texas – and the planet – Japan, Australia, and France.

Protecting and Enjoying our Oceans, Waves, and Beaches

That’s the tireless pursuit of volunteers across the globe.  Surfrider is a nonprofit organization built, run, and led by a powerful grassroots network.

Surfrider isn’t just surfers, because you don’t have to be a surfer to understand the importance of protecting water resources and coastal habitats for future generations.

Suncoast Chapter consists of business owners and beach lovers, kids and parents, paddlers and bikers, blondes and blue-hairs, volunteers and activists – we’re you! We’re engaged to protect what we love: oceans, waves, and beaches.

Our territory expands from the marshy coastline of Citrus County to the emerald green waters of Marco Island.  We’re the only Surfrider Chapter on the Gulf Coast of Florida!
