Get on the Bus to Save Our Coasts

Tuesday Trip to Tallahassee for the Special Legislative Session to Ban Oil Drilling Off Our Florida Beaches

Next week will be the most important ever in the battle to keep oil drilling rigs far from our beaches. Get on the bus Tuesday morning for Hands Around the Capitol!

Who: Everyone who wants to show their legislators that they support a joint resolution that will place the question of drilling in state waters on the ballot this November.

What: Hands Around the Capitol rally on the capitol steps; participation in Legislative Lobby Day – tell your legislators personally how you feel: Let the People Decide If We Should Ban Drilling!

Tuesday, July 20 - Itinerary

  • 5:30 a.m. Depart mid-Pinellas. Cracker Barrel at 4011 Ulmerton Road, in the St. Pete- Clearwater Airport to Feather Sound & Carillon area. Park in the northern-most parking lot.
  • 6:00 a.m. Depart Tampa, Westshore area: Sports Authority, 4900 West Shore Blvd. Directions: Turn south off of Kennedy Blvd. onto S. Occident Street (between Sports Authority and the InterContinental Hotel, across from Westshore Mall. Park in SW corner of the Sports Authority parking lot, bus will be on Occident).
  • 10:30 am: Arrive at Capitol. 1st of 2 Citizen Lobby Prep @ Cabinet Meeting room, Lower Level of the Capitol.
  • 11:30 a.m. Hands Around the Capitol Rally
  • 12:00 pm Session begins, fill the chambers to watch the opening of session, Chambers
  • 12:30 pm (Approx) Lunch on own (we will attempt to ensure Lower Level cafeteria is open)
  • 1:00 pm Second Citizen Lobby Prep (for those unable to make first) Cabinet Meeting Room, Lower Level, Capitol
  • Afternoon: Lobby Day - Visit your legislators.
  • 4:30 p.m. Depart Tallahassee.
  • 9:30 p.m. (Approx.) Tampa drop off.
  • 10:00 p.m. (Approx.) St. Pete/Clearwater drop off

Cost: $20 (includes $2.50 gratuity for driver.) Please have exact cash when boarding. Cost made affordable through generous contributions from Tradewinds Resort and Sierra Club Florida.
